The AKM has comprehensive knowledge of the risks and opportunities associated with modern mobility solutions. Its findings are based on the evaluation of numerous damage statistics, its own research projects, studies and analyses of motor vehicle claims.

Safe through your daily routine

Any accident is one too many. This is particularly true when it comes to road traffic where more than 200 people lose their lives every year. This is the reason that AXA Research & Prevention – as part of AKM – advocates better road safety. Through its prevention work, AXA Research & Prevention & reduces damage and makes driving on the roads safer:

  • the Safe Driver Bonus, a prevention program that encourages safe driving for young drivers and
  • Car Forensic.

Car Forensic

Car Forensic focuses on analyzing vehicles. Whenever there's an accident, the analysis of vehicle data, such as speed and braking deceleration as well as the estimate of the damage caused, can reconstruct the accident. These analyses are particularly important for claims and for clarifying the relevant facts of the matter, both for internal and external agencies such as the district attorneys or police. Our two experts Stefan Liechti and Georg Collet analyze and interpret vehicle data, known as EDR data or multimedia information, which acts as a basis for technical and accident-related expert opinions.

As a digital storage function, the EDR continuously records travel data and is used to clarify the issue of fault in worst case scenarios. Read our blog to find out about other benefits of the black box.

Focusing on road safety for over 40 years

We have been aiming to reduce the number of accidents in Switzerland for decades. We have promoted innovations such as motorbike airbags and crash recorders, providing significant momentum for changes in the law too. We've been working on road safety since 1981 by carrying out analyses and tests, and going forward, we also want to make key findings from prevention research tangible through accident simulations at various events. The video shows how things have developed over the last 40 years.
